Hollywood’s steak game is a chaotic, glorious mess, and I’ve eaten through all of it to find the survivors. This isn't one strip of tourist traps; it's a sprawl where a 45-day aged strip at JWB sits a few minutes from a brisket bowl at The Hen and Hog that earned a perfect 10.

You get Brazilian gaucho theatrics at Rio Grande and a Wagyu Picanha with bourbon pecans at Rick’s, all within city limits. The service at Blu’ Steakhouse, with Álvaro’s sommelier-level explanations, is the proof that craft extends beyond the grill.

That’s a lot of beef. Dig in.

Perfect cocktails and every dish
Service immaculate and attentive
Salmon worthy of Michelin praise
Matcha cheesecake with biscoff bliss
Broward’s best, hard to top

I walked into Common Room Hollywood with a notepad and a suspicion, and I left with the kind of full-body satisfaction that usually requires a nap. The cocktails are perfect, which is a word I rarely use without irony, but here it applies. Every dish that hit the table seemed to have been personally vetted by someone with impossibly high standards. The salmon deserves the Michelin chatter, and the matcha cheesecake with biscoff is the sort of dessert that makes you question every other dessert you’ve ever had. Service was immaculate, attentive, almost telepathic. Broward’s best? Hard to top. I didn’t even miss the steak, which is saying something for a steak review. Almost.

45-day aged NY strip
Massive, impressive shrimp cocktail
Warm bread with airy butter
Chef’s 24oz porterhouse special
Fantastic, attentive service

JWB Prime Steak and Seafood is not messing around. The 45-day aged New York strip arrives with a crust that crackles like a secret, and the interior is that perfect rosy shade of pink that steak enthusiasts write poems about. But the real shock was the shrimp cocktail, massive, almost architectural, with a cocktail sauce that bites back. The warm bread comes with airy butter, and I ate too much of it. Then the chef’s 24-ounce porterhouse special appeared, and I forgot the bread entirely. Service was fantastic, attentive without hovering. If you come for one thing, come hungry. If you come for two, come very hungry.

Attentive service by Lola
Fresh, filling, fairly priced
Quick Friday morning seating
Shrimp and grits praised

The Hen and Hog Breakfast & Brunch in Hollywood, Florida, is proof that the best meals sometimes come from places that don’t try to be fancy. I sat down on a Friday morning, got seated quickly, and ordered the brisket bowl. Ten out of ten is a rating I rarely give, but here it is. The brisket is tender, smoky, and piled over fresh, filling ingredients that made me want to high-five the kitchen. Lola, our server, was attentive in that rare way that makes you feel like the only table in the room. Shrimp and grits also earned praise, but the brisket bowl owns my heart. Fair prices, fresh food, zero pretension. I’ll be back. Absolutely.

My Favorite Spot has a name that sounds like a challenge, and after one meal I think they’ve won. The freshness is addictive, the kind of clean, bright flavor that makes you crave it the next day. Gina runs the floor with pure joy, and her service is phenomenal, she remembered my order, cracked a joke, and made me feel like a regular on the first visit. The bulgogi is excellent, and they offer a vegan meat option that is so convincing I double-checked my plate. The appetizer sampler is an absolute must, a tour of textures and tastes that arrives hot and fresh with smiles. I’m already planning my next trip back.

Dos Pecados is a welcome surprise in every sense. Nicole greeted me with warmth that felt genuine, not performative, and her attentiveness never crossed into hovering. The back patio is beautiful, a shaded escape that makes you forget you’re near a busy street. I brought my kid, who gave the plates a hearty thumbs-up, which is the highest culinary compliment in my household. When a mix-up happened with my order, they resolved it promptly and with grace, no drama, no fuss. The plates are affordable yet beautifully presented, which is a rarity. It’s family-friendly without losing sophistication. I’d come back for the patio alone, but the food gives me another reason.

Local favorite, worth return

Carmela's Italian Ristorante feels like a local secret that everyone already knows. The bar staff guided me through the menu with a confidence that made me trust their every word. The arancini were crisp on the outside, molten within, and the salad that followed was bright and sharp, a proper palate cleanser. Then came the casarecce pasta, fresh and superb, each curl holding onto a sauce that tasted like it had been simmering for generations. The chocolate pistachio cake was light, almost airy, and a perfect ending. This is a local favorite for good reason. I’m already planning my return, and I rarely plan returns this quickly.

CLASS Soiree Steakhouse lives up to its name, but with more substance than style. The intimate atmosphere made me feel like I was dining in someone’s beautifully appointed living room, and the service was impeccable. The lamb lollipops were seasoned to perfection, each bite a tiny, savory revelation. The seabass was buttery in a way that felt illegal, and the mac and cheese was so creamy I wanted to bathe in it. The staff treated me like family, which is both heartwarming and slightly unsettling when they know your dessert order before you do. This is birthday-worthy, outrageously good food. I’d come here for a celebration, or frankly, any random Thursday.

Reservations recommended for good reason

JZ Steakhouse made me consider a flight from Toronto, and I don’t even live in Toronto. The service feels genuinely rare, the kind of attentive, warm hospitality that makes you forget you’re a customer. The rib steak was cooked with real care, a beautiful crust and a center that was exactly as ordered, no small feat. Every dish arrived hot and perfect, which sounds simple but is shockingly uncommon. Reservations are recommended for good reason, this place fills up fast. I sat there, chewing slowly, and thought, this is worth the trip. Anyone’s trip. Mine included. The steak was that good.

Lilly and Sharon's attentive care

Blu’ Steakhouse is where I learned that a waiter can make or break an evening, and Álvaro made it unforgettable. He explained every dish with the precision of a sommelier and the enthusiasm of a kid showing off a new toy. The beef carpaccio was unexpectedly exceptional, silky, bright, and perfectly seasoned. Then the 20-ounce steak arrived, cooked so perfectly that I almost felt bad cutting into it. Almost. The smoked bleu cheese sauce was a standout, rich and funky, the kind of thing you crave after the meal ends. Lilly and Sharon took care of every detail with attentive care. I left full, impressed, and slightly worried about my standards for future steaks.

Melt-in-your-mouth Butter Cake
Watch sports, play pool
Standout Bourbon Pecan Brussels Sprouts

Rick's Steakhouse & Lounge does upscale right without being stuffy. The atmosphere is classy, dark wood and soft lighting, but there’s a pool table and sports on the TVs, so you can be fancy and casual at the same time. The Wagyu Picanha was perfectly seared, a deeply beefy cut with a crust that sang. The Butter Cake melts in your mouth, literally, it’s a dessert that collapses into butter and sugar and heaven. And the Bourbon Pecan Brussels Sprouts are a standout, smoky, sweet, and salty, everything you want in a side dish. I could watch a game, play a round of pool, and eat that steak again. Happily.

Endless gaucho-style meat parade
Attentive waiters carve tableside
Spotless room, lively buzz
Brazilian beef at its finest

Rio Grande Churrascaria Hollywood operates like a beautiful, carnivorous parade. The gaucho-style service means endless skewers of Brazilian beef, carved tableside with theatrical flair and an attentive smile. I lost count of the cuts, but I never lost interest. The room is spotless and buzzing with laughter and the clink of glasses. Waiters move like choreography, slicing tender picanha directly onto my plate before I could even finish chewing the last piece. This is Brazilian beef at its finest, unapologetic, generous, and deeply satisfying. If you have any vegetarian friends, do not bring them here. It would be cruel. Bring a big appetite and a small sense of shame; you’ll need both.

Thanks To Harrison is the kind of place that makes you want to cancel all other plans. They serve brunch until one, which is a gift to anyone who believes mornings are optional. The Croque Madame is cooked with a precision that borders on obsessive, the yolk still runny, the ham salty, the béchamel just rich enough. The Syrnky with berries are delicate, almost airy, and I could have eaten a dozen. Service is elegant and attentive, the kind that anticipates your needs before you voice them. This is ideal for special dining, or for any Tuesday that feels like it needs a crown. I left feeling like a better version of myself.
